Tea Party Anyone

How how can you not join this tea party?

You could not have better company - Isabella, Minnie, and Mickey Mouse. What a party!!!

I love the imagination of children and more importantly my children. Bella asks everyday for me to join her tea party. Unfortunately, I don't always play along.

Well this was a wake up call and I think I need to have a change of heart and participate more often. So next time you are feeling bad, have a tea party even if it is with make believe characters.

What do your kids do when they go to bed?

Bed time -as a parent you have to love bed time. It is always a pleasure to put your children to bed. How fun it is to give them a warm bath, put on pajamas, brush teeth, say prayers and go to bed. Best of all - your children go straight to sleep.

Yeah whatever!!!!! This is not in the manual for raising children nor was I prepared for the fun of putting children to bed.

My children hate bed time. It is amazing how all of a sudden they are so busy. There are so many things they forgot to do. A million and one excuses come up as to why they cannot go to bed.

Each night we go through the routine and eventually they make it to bed. Then for the next hour they have to get up 50 million times and they have to lie in bed and talk and sing. Eventually, they fall asleep.

Well, last night I had them in bed and the house had been quite for awhile. I had a funny feeling that I should go and check on them. So I walk into the bedroom and Molli is sound asleep. Bella is sitting in the bed with a pair of scissors.

I look at Bella and say "What are you doing?" She says, "I am cutting Molli's hair." My heart sinks into my stomach and I have never moved as quickly as I moved over to the bed. Sure enough, there on Bella's lap lies a lock of Molli's hair.

I start running my hands through Molli's hair and more and more hair comes out. I am sick to my stomach. I know that Molli is going to freak out.

Molli is very sensitive and self conscious about her hair. When she was a baby the doctors had to shave her hair for her head surgery. Then at the age of three most of her hair fell out. So, she is very, very, very self conscious about her hair.

I immediately move Bella out of the room (while remaining completely in control and calm :-) ). I sit Molli up and start combing her hair. Luckily, she is out cold and not waking up to find out what is going on. From what I can tell, the hair cut is not too bad.

I call Jenni on the telephone and tell her to come home immediately. When she gets home, she does the same with Molli and thinks she can hide it when she combs her hair.

We decide not to tell Molli (IF YOU READ THIS BLOG MESSAGE, PLEASE DO NOT TELL MOLLI).

Fast forward to the next morning - I get Molli up for school and tell her to get dressed. She comes running out of her room carrying her pajama tops. She anxiously tells me - Dad, there is hair all over my shirt. I just give her the best dumb look that I can and say hum, I don't know what that is from, now hurry and go get dressed.

So far she has no clue and I hope it stays that way. Don't worry, we have checked Bella about every 2 minutes tonight.

So the next time your kids go right to bed, be grateful.

What a Marathon

So, it is cold and snowy outside. My children are going crazy being in the house. They have not been able to go outside and just play and run around for hours for the past couple of months. Today, it was warm enough that they did get to go out for a few minutes but it was not long enough.

You have to love the snow in Utah and how it keeps you inside for a few months. It is especially fun when you have young children (haha).

Somehow Jenni ended up on the bed wrapped up in a blanked reading a book while I tried to entertain the children. Of course, everything I suggested was boring and they have done it over and over and over and life is so hard and they are so bored and they are not having fun and I just don't understand. Imagine that!!

So, I gave in and let them turn to the Disney channel on T.V. Normally, I do not mind this channel even though the shows are corny. Lucky for me, they were having a marathon weekend on a show they like. It is the dumbest show every. The acting is bad, the plots are repetitive, and the forced laughing is annoying. My list could go on.

However, I endured it and didn't learn a darn thing. At least it made them happy. I think I should get the price for father of the year especially since at one point, Jenni came in, saw what we were watching and took off quickly.

Beauty

Now this is a precious moment! This does not happen very often and so I love this picture. It speaks so much about our children. Deep down, they love and care for each other. Just like most siblings, they would rather be poking, pushing, or teasing one another so this is a rare moment when they just want to be by one another (I am sure being asleep in the car has nothing to do with it).

Our children love to talk and sing. They never stop from the moment they wake up until they go to bed at night. In fact they talk in their sleep.

It is a rare moment when they all fall asleep in the car. When this happens Jenni and I just soak up a small moment of silence. However, after about 10 minutes we miss the noise.

I love my children. I hope moments like this happen throughout the remainder of their lives.

Aahhhhhhhh

A couple of weeks ago, I had a busy Sunday. I had meetings that started at 6:00 am and went until 4:30 pm. I was so tired when I got home.

My daughter asked me to lay on the bed and watch a movie with her. So, I agreed.

I know that I did not last very long before I was out cold. In fact, I probably did not even make it through the first 5 minutes of the movie. When I woke up, this is what I found laying on the bed next to me.

The note says: To Daddy, did you here me sing you a good night song? I love you. Love Molli.

Is this awesome or what. Yes, it made me cry but it was a wonderful cry.

Frosty

I love this snowman. Around my house we call him Frosty.

Frosty has a story ~ Irionically, our weather in Utah has been really weird this year. Normally, it is cold and snowy. However, this year it has been warm.

I had been complaining that I wanted a white Christmas. It would just not be the same without snow. Well, I got what I wished for. Over night we got two feet of snow.

So, while I was out breaking my back shoveling snow, my girls came out to "help." I guess I should be happy that their help was just staying out of the way so I could get the driveway shoveled more quickly. As I was working away, I looked over and my girls had built Frosty. This was their first time of builing one together and they did it all on their own.

They were so proud of him and I am so proud of them. It is times like this that make my day. So even though my back hurt after shoveling 2 feet of snow it was worth it to see the smiles on their faces as they finished Frosty.
